Today I was a groomsman at one of my best friend’s wedding in Richmond, Virginia. While it was great to just relax and be there to support Michael, it was all I could do to stop myself from jumping out of line, grabbing the photographer’s camera, and start shooting away. Now, a couple months ago, I offered to shoot the wedding for him, but he insisted that I had to be in the wedding and stand up for him, which I deeply appreciated. He assured me that he had a guy who could do it; I grudgingly accepted. However, the photographer wasn’t exactly the type that I’m used to; indeed, he was very different from me: not proactive, extremely quiet, and very unassertive. While I found this to be frustrating, I managed to restrain myself and kept my mouth shut (although I did help the coordinator with a few posing suggestions). But the whole time we were taking pictures, on the inside I was screaming “No, no, no! You’re doing it all wrong!” I was legitimately scared that my friend Michael was going to be severely disappointed in a few weeks when he comes back from his honeymoon and gets his pictures back.
There is value in having a good photographer. We at Ideal Impressions believe that every shot should be technically professional, every pose perfectly captured, and every smile masterfully recorded. We want our clients to have beautiful memories of their big day, not some ratty snapshots from a disposable camera. Having been on the other side of the camera today, I can understand the stress and worry that comes with planning a wedding; you want to have great pictures to remember every single detail!
We know where you’re coming from. Whether you’re heading to Vegas to get hitched in front of Elvis or flying to Italy to tie the knot in the canals of Venice, you can have the confidence to know that the Ideal Impressions crew has your back all the way.
